Bonfire & Firework
Spectacular!
Saturday 5th November 2005
We
weren't so lucky with the weather this year - the 400th anniversary
of the day Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the houses of parliament.
Nevertheless, whose who braved the showers were rewarded with an
impressive display.
We
did have a few hiccups - the wind changed direction so we had to
move some of the spectators; and the final display was delayed by
20 minutes due to technical difficulties, leaving people standing
in the rain! Our apologies for that, but on the plus side the rain
had stopped when the display was finally fired - and we think it
was worth the wait.
A
few people were concerned that the bonfire had set fire to the rugby
posts! Don't worry, the posts were old derilict ones - actually
old metal lamp-posts.
Numbers
were down a bit this year, probably due to the weather. Nevertheless,
the event is expected to have raised at least £2000 for charity.
Once
again, thanks to the various organisations and individuals who helped
Round Table put on this event. And thanks to everybody who bought
tickets, glows, food etc.
